American Medical Systems (AMS) operates under three business segments:
Men’s Health – devices used to treat urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction;
BHP Therapy – products for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH); and
Women’s Health – products for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse and other pelvic floor disorders.
AMS has recently sold assets that did not fit its long-term strategy in order to concentrate its efforts and resources on improving and expanding the global reach of its products. These have included the sale of the Ovion female sterilisation assets and technology, and the Her Option global endometrial cryoablation product line.
In 2009, AMS reported revenues of US$519.3 million. The company employs more than 1,200 people worldwide.
